doctor's appointment

i had my 1st doctor's appointment today. it was also my very first outing. it was about time! i've been cooped up in the house for almost 2 weeks. i was getting a little shack wacky.

mom was kinda nervous about the whole thing. she was mostly worried that i'd get hungry while we were at the doctor's office. as we were sitting in the waiting room she suddenly got her wits about her and remembered - she forgot the diaper bag at home!! so dad had to go back and get it. as nanny b would say, that lady needs to "chillax"!

as it turns out, i didn't get hungry at the doctor's office at all. i had eaten about an hour beforehand. good thinking, mom!

the doctor was very nice and said that she loved my name! so i decided to be nice back. i didn't cry once until the very end of the appointment. let's see how much poking and prodding YOU can put up with before you start getting cranky!

everything is looking great. i weigh 8 lbs 13 oz!! the doctor said that was excellent. at 2 weeks it's important for breastfed babies to be back up to their birth weight. well i showed my birth weight who's boss!

after the doctor's appointment we went to visit nana and grampy m for a little while. my 1st appointment and 1st visit out all in one day! mom hopes i sleep well tonight. we'll see about that...

yesterday morning mom noticed a scratch on my cheek. that evening she commented to dad that she thought it was time to cut my fingernails. dad agreed... i had scratched him that morning. i didn't mean it, i swear!

so after changing my bum mom and dad cracked open the baby nail grooming kit and decided to use the little pair of scissors to give me my very first manicure. i behaved myself perfectly through the whole ordeal - they had just cleaned my poopy bum afterall, so i cut them some slack...

dad did the trimming while mom held me. she seemed pretty paranoid and wouldn't even watch. chill out, mom!

last night dad changed my diaper and discovered a belly button where my umbilical stump once was. but where was the dried up stump? it was no where in sight. a real mystery!

a little while later mom discovered the remnants of the cord in my bassinet. how did i manage that? it's my little secret. i like to keep 'em guessing, see.
