more company

great auntie kelly and unkie todd came to visit me today! they brought presents and everything. i got some books and i can't wait til i'm old enough to enjoy them. mom even got a present!

here we are being silly!

fibber

last night dad read this blog and said to mom, "charlotte's medicare card didn't come addressed to her. it was addressed to you". mom didn't believe it at first! so of course she had to do some investigating.

sure enough, the medicare card had come addressed to mom. it was my birth certificate that came addressed to me! so mom is still a mail fraudster. and a fibber, too! gee whiz, mom!!

medicare card

i forgot to share the news! i got my medicare card in the mail last week. the envelope was addressed to me and everything! mom opened it. but maybe i shouldn't be blabbin'. isn't it against the law to open mail that isn't addressed to you?

anyway, now that i have my birth certificate and my medicare card i'm all set. i can sit back and relax!

havin' fun

nom nom nom

mom and dad decided to try giving me a bottle of pumped breast milk over the weekend. a bottle isn't something they plan on giving me very much, but it would be good to have as an option. it would be neat for dad to be able to feed me once in a while, too!

mom was kind of nervous. she'd read a lot about breastfed babies refusing a bottle. she didn't like bottles herself when she was a baby.

on saturday dad tried giving me 1 ounce of milk mom had pumped that morning. i gobbled it right down!!

yummy!

spit up kinda day

you know, i've been thinking about it, and i have to say i'm more of a pooper than a puker. i can shoot poop. i can spray it. i've been known to frighten adults with the sound alone. what i'm trying to say is i can load a diaper up with the best of 'em!

i do spit up sometimes too, of course. some days i don't spit up at all. but other days i spit up all kinds. mom calls those days spit up kinda days.

today i had a spit up kinda day.

what can i say? spit up happens!

hearing test

the day after i was born the nurses tested my hearing... and my right ear failed the test!! they said it could just be some fluid in my ear from when i was born, but that i would have to come back to the hospital in a few weeks to get retested.

well my appointment was today, and guess what? i passed!

yeah!!!

socks

what's the deal with you nutty adults insisting on putting socks on us little babies?

sure, itty bitty socks are cute and all, but have you ever seen a pair stay put for more than a few minutes? no way! if they haven't fallen off yet, they're sliding down, and if they're not sliding down, you *just* hiked them up.

and let me ask you this, adults: how do YOU like it when your socks won't stop sliding down? pretty bugged, huh? and just think, us little babies can't even reach down and pull them up for ourselves! there's really nothing we can do but sit there, and take it. picture it!

so next time you're thinking about putting a pair of socks on a little baby, give it a second thought. consider a footed sleeper instead. or how about au naturel? because let's face it... itty bitty socks are cute and all, but itty bitty piggies are ADORABLE!

happy mother's day!

crapped up my back

oops! crapped up my back earlier tonight... cousin emma would be proud!

i wouldn't say it was anything incredibly catastrophic, but hey, you gotta start somewhere! i kinda thought i might get in trouble since mom was holding me at the time and i had to be bathed and changed afterward... but nope! after the initial gasp, mom just laughed.

it pays to be so darn cute afterall!

hi!

long day

i was pretty stuffy again today so mom took my temperature under my arm -- 99.4F. a little high. so she gave the doctor's office a call, and was told to bring me in just to get me checked out.

when we saw the doctor she asked mom if she brought a rectal thermometre. you have to bring your own thermometre to the doctor's office now?? geez.

the doctor didn't seem very worried, but said i felt a little warm, so decided to send me to the hospital to have my temperature taken, and some blood work and other tests to make sure everything was okay.

what a long day it turned out to be. talk about being poked and prodded! i hated the blood work part the most. i cried so much that mom almost cried herself!

we finally got to see the doctor and she said the tests all look good. mom and dad have to take my temperature every day while i still have this pesky stuffy nose.

while we were waiting to see the doctor mom went to the gift shop and bought me a toy. it's an owl with a rattle inside. i can't wait til i'm old enough to actually have fun with it!

projectile poops

every baby's guide: projectile poops
by charlotte rose

so you're a newborn. all you do is sleep, eat, poop, and cry. think you have to wait til you're older to mess with your parents? think again!

you'll need:
a wet diaper
lots of gas and the need to poop
an unexpecting parent

instructions:
1. wet your diaper. make sure it feels nice and soggy so mom or dad are sure you need a changing
2. stay quiet and calm
3. wait until the wet diaper is removed, and your bum is hiked up in the air being cleaned
4. take aim: mom, dad, the wall, the hallway, the carpet... be creative!
5. strain a little. be as subtle as possible
6. let the poop fly!

tips:
- projectile poops work best in the middle of the night. dim light means vigorous straining goes undetected
- wait a few days between incidents to catch mom or dad off-guard
- save up that gas! noisy projectile poops get the best reaction

follow these simple instructions and watch mom or dad jump when you send that poop flying through the air. it gets 'em every time. if i knew how to laugh, i'd crack up!

dozing off

here i am dozing off in front of the tv last night. can't do nothin'!

mom says this looks awfully familiar -- she's pretty sure she's seen this exact look on grampy b!!

feeling better

mom thinks i'm starting to feel a little better. too bad i can't talk yet, that would really make things easier!

the doctor recommended saline nasal drops and a humidifier if i caught mom's cold. so dad picked those up over the weekend. the nasal drops didn't sound very pleasant and i was pretty skeptical. but they're not bad at all! i don't even notice them going in most of the time.

my nose sounds much better and i'm not sneezing up a storm like before. can you believe i caught my very first cold at 2 weeks?! gee whiz! nanny b says mom was 3 years old before she got ever got sick!

i seem to be sleeping better now than i did all weekend. here i am this afternoon -- sleeping like a baby!

stuffy nose

i have a stuffy nose today. can you believe it? as if being a baby isn't hard enough!

mom has had a stuffy nose all week so when we were at the doctor's on thursday she asked if it was likely that i'd catch it too. the doctor said it was quite likely, but not to worry as long as i don't have a fever. mom has checked my temperature a couple of times today and thank goodness, it's normal.

dad has a cold today too. what a miserable bunch!
